Historical Photos of Los Angeles – Hollywood, Pacific Red, Marilyn Monroe, WWII Kiss, Disneyland

Howard Hughes (I can't believe those suits were ever in style..)

Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell, co-stars of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater, Hollywood, CA.

Disneyland, opening day, July 17, 1955.

At the turn of the century Los Angeles had a robust public transportation system (shown above are the famous Pacific Red Rail Carts in a scarp yard, 1952). After World War II, the city went all-in on cars and freeways. It has been a hard 'road' back ever since.
